Phil Chernyak (he/him) is a Los Angeles-based filmmaker and composer whose musical short films have played at Slamdance, Austin Film Festival and more. His latest short (YOU’LL MAKE IT IN) FLORIDA enjoyed a festival run that included Fantastic Fest, Sarasota Film Festival, IndieLisboa and Phoenix Film Festival (winner of Best Live Action Short). Other recent credits include editing and writing the musical score for RED IS THE COLOR OF BEAUTY, an episode of Hulu’s Bite-Size Halloween, and co-writing the upcoming horror-comedy KILLER MAKEOVER for director Lindsay Denniberg. 

Phil is also a songwriter and member of the BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theater Workshop. His work has been produced Off-Broadway for Prospect Theater Company and Midtown International Theatre Festival, and his musical WASP WOMAN, co-written with Blake Hackler, was selected for the Dramatists Guild’s Summer Intensive. By day, Phil’s a television editor and cuts programming for networks like Netflix, Food Network and MTV.
